kward castes will announce 25 different beneficial events for the class. The same benefit schemes will be started for them like the benefits of AC, ST and OBC.




Shortly before, the commission of non-reserved category had suggested to the government that in the competitive examinations for government jobs such as age limit, attempt to examine and non-resident sections in the fee, relaxation is also given. Subsequently, the government issued a grant granting authority to the designated government officials to issue a standard cast certificate to take advantage of the event.




According to the announcement made by the BJP before the elections after the Patidar agitation, the state government created a non-resigned caste Welfare Commission a few days ago. The Commission has recommended the kind of welfare measures that the first report should submit to the government. The state government has given Rs. 532 crore has been allocated in the recent budget.




Minister of State for Social Welfare and Justice God Parmar said that the state government will implement these schemes from April 1, 2018. He further said, "The Cabinet will soon set the criteria for income limit for the benefit of this scheme. Which can remain in the range of 6-8 lakhs. ' In October 2017, the government announced the declaration of the Social Welfare Board. For which the government had allocated a fund of Rs 500 crore last year. However this grant was not used.

The largest demonstration was held in Ahmedabad on 25 August 2015, and was attended by thousands. The 10% reservation was quashed by the Gujarat High Court in August 2016. Later, there were incidents of violence and arson across the state, resulting in a curfew in several cities and towns. The state returned into normalcy by 28 August. Despite talks with the government, the agitation recommenced and turned violent again on 19 September. The government announced a scheme which offered scholarships and subsidies toward general category students on 24 September 2015 and a 10% quota of spaces reserved for economically backward classes in April 2016. Properties and vehicles worth crores[B] of rupees were damaged and destroyed.




The Supreme Court capped the reservation at 50% in their 1992 judgement in the Indra Sawhney case. In Gujarat, 27% of the seats in government and education are reserved for OBC, ].5% of all seats.In India, the Other Backward Caste (OBC) status invokes affirmative action which provides reserved quotas in education and government jobs.5% for Scheduled Castes and 15% for Scheduled Tribes for a total of 49.

 In the 1980s the proportion of reserved seats was 10%; by 2014 it had increased to 27%. It resulted in anti-reservation agitation across the state, which spilled over in riots that resulted in more than one hundred deaths. He was supported by Kshatriya, Harijan, Adivasi and Muslims, collectively called KHAM. Solanki resigned in 1985 but later returned through power, winning 149 out of 182 assemblyseats.The SEBC (later the OBC) list initially comprised 81 communities, which by 2014 had expanded to 146 communities.In 1981, the Government of Gujarat, headed by Indian National Congress (INC) chief minister Madhavsinh Solanki, introduced the reservation for socially and economically backward castes (SEBC) based on recommendations of the Bakshi Commission. This caused other communities, including Patidars, to lose the political influence which later alienated the INC. Patidars represents 12.3% of the population of Gujarat.
